The DOO social trading application is a fintech solution focused on assisting users that are new to the financial trading world to earn by copying trades of the most experienced traders.
Background
We are looking to expand our present scope and user base by creating a simple solution to help interested traders
Our present solutions cater to a more professional and experienced audience. There is however an opportunity to get into a new market of the younger population.
Our approach
Create a new solution for new inexperienced users
We focused on creating a new solution by conducting user research and compiling our findings to get us going.
Solution
Creating a new social trading application where users copy trades of vetted professionals with ease.
Through multiple rounds of user research, competitive analysis, design iteration and critiques, we have created a new social trading app from the ground up which we would test and validate overtime.
User registration
Registration and sign up made easy with the DOO SSO
All new and existing DOO customers would be required to have a DOO account in order to use the app. Therefore, we made it a standard procedure for new users to register using the DOO SSO and existing users to easily login with their DOO account.
User guide
Ensuring accessibility for first time users with a guide
A user guide is the first thing new users need to understand how to properly navigate a new product. As a result, we created an optional guide for users who want to learn how to navigate the product experience.
Copy master
Simplifying the trade copy process
When a user wants to copy the trades of a master, they would need positive reinforcement on which masters to follow but what happens when they decide the master of their choice? To make it easy for users to understand this process, we are now allowing users copy trades based on the percentage of funds available in their wallet.
Fund wallet
Fund your wallet with simple clicks
All users would need to fund their wallets in order to copy trades. As a result, we focused on making the process very accessible by leveraging on FXBO which is the default wallet account for all DOO account holders.
Conclusion
Results
The redesign was a success due to a number of outcomes after usability testing.
Most users completed the user guide.
More first time users successfully funded their wallet.
More first time users understood metrics of masters.
More first time users followed and copied a master.
Decrease in average time between registration and copying a master.
Next steps
This first iteration addressed issues around core functionalities of the app.
However, after further conversations with more real life users, it was made aware that some users would want to fund their accounts through different means. I believe the next steps therefore would be expanding the wallet top-up flow and onboarding flows.
